When I change the background in the Scene Settings dialog box to white and
do a rendering, the background of the scene stays black. Am I doing
something wrong?

Im not sure I follow. There is no "alpha" setting in Moray that I can find.
If I export the Moray file and run it in Pov 3.5, the background color is
correct. But in the Moray rendering window it still shows black in the
background.

In voth Moraay.ini and PovTxtr.ini I have Output_Alpha=on. I still don't see
a colored background unless I export and run from POVRay 3.5.

Precisely. The background goes where there're no objects. When using
alpha, the background is transparent so you won't see it. Turn it off.

OH OH OH. I did not understand that alpha gave me a transparent background,
no wonder I have been mixed up. Thanks very much to all for pointing this
issue out. Espeically Peter.

Which alpha channel by the way can be extremely handy for post
render compositioning.
