It has probably been said already before: This project has a very strong 
Escher flavour, and that is underscored by the Italian/Mediterranean

Very effective visually. I did a similar visual trick with roofs in my 
Gancaloon project, using a cells pattern where each cell was a slightly 
different colour, scanned from Mediterranean tiles.
