It has already been done before, albeit with older versions of POV-Ray; 
see e.g. 
http://www.phy.syr.edu/courses/PHY312.03Spring/mcdonald/phy312/povray22x.zip 
(modified POV-Ray 2.2). A modified version of POV-Ray 3.5 also exists 
(or at least existed), but I can't find it on the net right now.
