Contributions to the object collection at http://lib.povray.org/ have been a
little slow to get started this year, but a healthy 5500 downloads show that
people continue to find it a valuable resource.

I'm concerned that people submitting stuff for the first time might find the
process a bit daunting, so I've recently updated the section of the online
documentation that describes the submission process at
http://lib.povray.org/usersguide/04contributing.html#overview. As always,
any ideas to improve on that will be welcomed.

The most recent addition to the collection is the KnurledCylinder macro by
cshake which generates the sort of knurled cylindrical surfaces popularly
used for scientific, mechanical and electrical equipment to give grip to
rounded metal surfaces.

The Flags macros have been added this quarter, resulting from a collective
effort. This delivers a range of national flags (plus an Olympic flag) that
can be rendered flat or as wrinkly, wind-blown flags. In the last few days
Yadgar has doubled the number of countries represented. The bulk of the
textures are procedural, but the macros also support bitmap textures.

An update to the Blockwall macros back in January added support for the
generation of completely circular walls where the 'ends' mesh together. A
number of more sophisticated examples have been added to illustrate the
capabilities. These examples include a ready made stone bridge and a stone
well that you can simply paste into your scenes.

Regards,
Chris B.
