The image_map starts in the X-Y plane.
What you can do is :
1) Apply a rotate 90*x to the image_map itself when you apply it to the 
object on the X-Z plane.
2) Apply the image_map to an object aligned to the X-Y plane, then 
rotate that object so that it's along the X-Z plane.
