I'd say try utilizing this:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Distance_from_a_point_to_a_line#Line_defined_by_two_points

and checking if it's <= some small value (0.000001)

Otherwise maybe investigate what they have in the Graphics Gems series.
