I notice the Windows installation places some folders in the My Documents area
and others in the area specified during installation. I wonder why. Anyway, is
there some way to have all files within one common area and have them be picked
up and used correctly by POV? I find myself struggling to do this (rather
simple) thing.
Thanks much.

I have also the same problem.

The most userfriendly solution would be the possibility of choosing. Let the
current solution be the default one, if the developers are insisting to it. But
the possibility of the free choice of putting the "editable files" to any other
folder should be given. During the installation, or as a command line option,
whatever. The forcing of the present solution is not an excellent idea. For
example, how is it possible to install a portable copy of Povray to a USB stick?

Given there seems to be a number of people asking for allowing the
user-specific files to be at an arbitrary location, I am considering
putting this in. Currently having them at the fixed spot in the user
profile simplifies the code somewhat, which was desirable due to the added
complications introduced by the Vista security model (in the past we kept
the binaries and user files in the same directory, so there was only one
thing to keep track of).
