It is done but waits for release of whole MegaPOV 1.1.
Do you want to know something particular about this feature ?

follow-ups to povray.unofficial.patches

Yes, a couple of things.
Will this have the limitation of a bitmap pigment (fixed resolution), or
will as many rays as are necessary be calculated within the pigment?

Will the camera_view need to be in the same scene as my true camera, or
will I be able to use a camera_view from a separate scene, in effect
creating an entire scene pigment?

When do you foresee the release of MegaPOV 1.1? If this works as I hope,
then I will be able to complete a picture which I have previously been
unable to complete.

Thank you,
 -Shay

This is not precalculated to the bitmap. It is contignous but can be pixelized
via function builded over it.

I had such an idea and this could be possible in some future MegaPOV thanks to
some other goodies are planned here and there. Now it is possible only to view
other part of the same scene.

Soon after POV-Ray 3.5.1 release.

I hope you do not plan to use it via height_field. Due to using the same
optimizations as typical rendering it can't be evaluated before end of rendering
when optimizations are not prepared. On the other hand you can be interested
that camera_view has an option to output the same 'channels' like those
available for post-processing, thought I'm still optimizing and "macroizing"
this stuff.

Will be nice when the other way is done, but easy to work around for
now.

Cool, looking forward to it.

No.
