I am sorry if this has been posted before; I've looked but haven't found...

When I call MegaPOV up to render a file, it seems to run through fine and
creates the PNG output file.

If I open this file in PhotoShop or ImageReady, it's fine. But the Windows
XP thumbnail preview is buggered. It is horribly distorted, looking like
you're trying to view an image through horrendous reception on an indoor TV
aerial.

Now, I wouldn't mind, but when I import this file into MS Word, the
corruption is still there - unlike Photoshop.

Any ideas? I've tried with all the different +FNn and +Qn settings, to no
avail. I can post a screenshot in .binaries if it helps. I'm not sure if the
bug lies in MegaPOV or Windows or whatever but thought I'd try here first :)

Thanks a lot,

David

MegaPOV 1.1 uses the libpng library version 1.2.6 to output to PNG
format. Unfortunately it has been found afterwards that this version of
libpng is a bit buggy. The problem is described in the orange section
"Broken-Image Warning" on http://www.libpng.org/pub/png/libpng.html .
As you can see it affects in particular Microsoft Word and MS Internet
Explorer. So your problem is known and as a simple solution at the
moment, as suggested in the link above (i.e. you can recompress the
PNG file using the pngcrush utility).

Sometimes I wonder whether someone ever created a 'braincrush'
utility that would be useful in fixing the way I think and write ;-)
