Can someone explain what the fourth and fifth parameters do?

The megapov docs say they're 'offset' and 'gain' respectively. But the
description makes them sound similar to the 'H' value (the 1st parameter), and
having played with them a bit I can't quite work out what effect they're having.

Any help would be appreciated :)
