I thought that Mega 0.5 had a toon renderer. I just looked carefully at
the docs and don't see that word in there. Exactly what patch(es) of
pov can do toon shading? (Actually, could someone list ALL of them for
me?).

There's no actual feature called "toon rendering", however, using the
find_edge feature in Mega 0.5 and ambient texturing, HE Day devised a way to
create a cartoon-like effect. Check a month or so back in
povray.text.tutorials for the tutorial on how to achieve this effect and in
povray.binaries.animations for a animation using this technique. I've setup
a basic template for this effect so e-mail me if you can't find Day's post.

I don't remember who did it, but I saw an animation of the "Futturama" space
ship done with Megapov a few weeks ago. Look back through p.b.a. It is
possible that the post was old when I saw it.
I am sure that it has to do with the lighting and the "find edges"
post-process.

That would have been H.E. Day: Futurama spaceship posted to povray.binaries.animations
on May
24, 2000. And Equiprawn has a rendering posted May 29, 2000 which is likewise done
cartoon-style, called Cartoon Testing at povray.binaries.images. So too did Rune,
Early Stages
of AI the Alien June 4, 2000 at p.b.a. Others are known to exist also :-)
