How hard would it be to add a simple keyword, 'turbulence_scale' to
resize the effects of turbulence on pigments? It seems like it would be
easier than messing with the lamba, octave, etc. values. I can never get
good results with lamba and octaves anyway.

If I get what you mean correctly, then I think you should be able to
achieve the same thing by putting the turbulence statements inside of a
warp {} statement.  Take your pigment, scale it, apply warp{ turbulence
etc. } then scale it back.
