I just can't get those photons working.
I've fiddled around with the photon blocks from ThreeLenses and
radiance.pov, but whatever I try my scene stucks with building photon
maps forever. And nothing seems to hit, cause 'total' is still zero.

My scene is rather large, one unit beeing one mm. Does this affect
photon mapping? The room is 5 by 5 m and the light sources are app. 60
cm from the object which is 8 cm in diameter. The table is 1 m^2 and
reflective.

Yes. This will have a huge impact on photon settings. If you are still
making use of the "phd" variable, then set it to a huge value (like 100 or
maybe even bigger). If, for example, the "separation" of photons is 0.02,
then imagine a grid of photons with all photons spaced 0.02 POV units apart.
Now, if the size of your object is 1x1, then all is OK. But if your object
is 1000x1000, then you'll have TONS of photons.

Thanks a lot! The scene seems to render properly now. (don't know for
sure yet; it's a slow scene)

Do photons have mass? :)

Only when they are moving! :)

well if they do it wouldn't matter none of the other povray objects have
mass =}
