Differences:
SuperPatch: many patches in one
UVPOV: Nathan Kopp's patches in one
Advantages:
SuperPatch: many patches in one
UVPOV: photon mapping, uv mapping, etc. etc.
Disadvantages:
They are not in one patch (yet).
Did that answer your questions?

Is it possible to use both on one picture? Like parse the scene in one
binary and then the other to utilize both binaries?

Ken already said no, but I just wanted to add some historical perspective:
It was just that question that got me started on the whole superpatch
idea in the first place, because it wasn't possible before. Now it seems
to have taken on a life of its own. I never cease to be impressed by what
people are doing with a handful of extra stuff.

So are there any plans for a future collabrative with both UvPov and
Superpatch?
for povray 3.1g?

Nathan Kopp is currently working to merge the two patches together but there
is no release date available that I am aware of.

Nathan sent me the results of that work, so now the release is on my
shoulders. As everyone knows by now, that means it'll only happen
after everyone has despaired of it ever happening. :)
I haven't merged in the g sources yet. I'll need to remember to do
that too.
Okay, y'all, time to help out if you can: does anyone know a decent
scheduling/project planning program that can embed an email or a
Usenet message, including attachments, into a subproject description?

If you have Windows here's a heck of a site with several possibilities
it seems. I just don't know anything of it. AY Mail looked right, but
there's a bunch there.
