Hello.
I have a question concerning the Photon Map patch. Is is possible to
looking for is calculating "radiosity" or something similar with the
Photon Map, e.g. get a nice blue ambient light in a room with a blue
roof...
Perhaps the Photon Map only works with true reflective surfaces?
How accurate is POV-rays radiosity functions in calculating true ambient
light?

I have run some tests with this, but it does not produce nice smooth
results. Photon data can be used to improve the speed of a cached
sampling scheme (like POV uses), however.

POV's system is relatively accurate if you feed it the right settings. Which is
tricky. Photon maps can and have been used for diffuse interreflection, but I've
always found the results too noisy.

All surfaces are reflective to some degree, and yes, the photon patch
can simulate diffuse interreflection, but I don't think it will produce
good results until there is a photon patch and a blurred reflections
patch in one. And then it will probably be unbearably slow, and a
blurred reflections alone could do it. Just use the built in
"radiosity", it isn't that bad(although I am still learning how to
control it).
