Note the double-slash after etc!

How to solve the problem? Povray can not find include files, without its own
config file.

When I'm put the include path manually into the command line it gives me back:

Parse Error: Reading from '/usr/share/povray/include/screen.inc' is not
permitted. Check the configuration in '/etc//povray/3.6/povray.conf'.

Any idea?

Holger

I solved it my self.
I've deleted the Ubuntu-package and compiled my own Povray.

Now it goes :)

I stopped using the Ubuntu packages for povray in order to stay on the 3.7
bleeding edge, and because of the suckiness of Ubuntu's povray package, but try
to report bugs in the Ubuntu packages if you can.

In my experience the maintainer(s) have been doing a particularly bad job with
the povray package -- they seem to not test the very basics of whether povray
actually works beyond getting it to build and install. I filed a bug in
launchpad (#130281) ages ago that might actually be related to the problem you
were seeing. Ugh. I guess the Ubuntu folks just don't care about broken stuff in
Multiverse.

My official ubuntu bug report on this very problem got demoted/ promoted to
"wishlist."
