Although I haven't tried it yet (I saw the gentoo live cd is doing
something like that but still have to see how) -- it is likely that the
povray framebuffer patch will trash the background image when the display
is closed and the framebuffer cleared. Since the clearing stuff is buggy*
in the patch, I plan to remove it anyway. However there still will be
particular situations (depending on the pov scene) where the trashing
won't be avoidable, at least until I find a better -but probably slower-
solution.
