Do you honestly expect them to update the command with every renaming of the
linux distribution!?!
I doubt your username is user, your machine's hostname is machine, and you
actually saved the povlinux.tgz or whatever in a folder called povray in
your home directory!
Most people are sensible enough to know to put the version in. Besides, if
memory serves me right, it might be clearer to type
$ tar -xvzf povlinux.tgz
[that way you get the f before the filename, instead of the z; since the f
option indicates use a file] if you really want to nitpick. And if memory
serves me right, some shells use "$" at the end instead of a ">" for normal
users, and "#" for root users.
You just can't accomidate every case scenario...
