can start thinking seriously about pov4 :)
by the way i wrote some patches for megapov0.7 , You can see the results
here
http://195.221.122.126/tmp/MLPov.html
(sorry it's in french but looking at the examples should be sufficient to

We never said we would throw away our old code. Besides, who is this person
and what reputation does he have? Anyway, I am not going to discuss this
further.

I have responded to a similar question in the "Beta-8?" in this group. Read
my answer there, you won't get more information.
For a more general answer, the "Welcome to the POV-Ray news groups" message
in povray.announce.frequently-asked-questions clearly states:
>>>
New Versions of POV-Ray - Please Don't Ask
==========================================
One of the most asked questions we hear in the news groups is -
"When will the next version of POV-Ray be released ?"
The answer is that they will not tell you. The POV-Team is a group
of volunteers working on the development of the program in their free
time. They do not like deadlines and will only release a new version
when they have time to finish it. They also need time to ensure they
have the bugs worked out of it before releasing it publicly.
For this reason *PLEASE* do not ask when the next version will be released.
If they spend all of their time answering this question they will not have
time to work on the next release of the program. When it is time they will
notify you through public announcements on this server and on the POV-Ray
home page - http://www.povray.org.
We thank you for understanding our position on this matter.

oups sorry , i don't read every thread.. Must be really boring for you to
see always the same questions again and again, I apologize
in fact i wonder why you answer so much on news.povray , I thought the
pov-TAG was created to avoid this to the pov team ? :)

Well, I am answering this one because I am reading this group's thread
"Povray 4? wish list". Apart from that I usually answer questions during
unproductive time (i.e. half an hour before I have leave the house) when
concentration on more "serious" work doesn't make sense. That is also why
sometimes there are the most fascinating spelling and grammar mistakes in my
replies...

No, they don't. Neither does anyone else. I can, however, assure you that
POV-Ray 3.5 beta 9 will be ready by December 21.\

Well, perhaps not "ready" in the strict meaning, but it probably will get
published by then...
("Ready" would mean, I think, "free of all known bugs".)
