Which island? http://warp.povusers.org/snaps/island.jpg

(Yes, the coordinates are visible, so if you don't know the answer, you
could find it using those coordinates. I didn't bother to censor them.
Maybe if someone does need to use the coordinates to find the answer,
that's actually a good exercise. Anyways, try to guess without checking.
If you don't already know, of course.)

Its curious how common this island shape seems to be. I guess it has
something to do with volcanism.

It's probably a coral attol.

Volcano rises from the sea bed, coral grows on the part just below the
water's surface, volcano sinks back below the waves, coral grows upward
as fast the the volcano sinks downways. A few million years later...
weird circular island.

Cheated from the coordinates.

This one looks more like a caldera http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caldera

This map shows it as "Isla Tortuga"
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/archive/f/f4/20080705011917!Galapagos_Islands_topographic_map-fr.png

there are other calderas (Islas 4 Hermanos) at some distance toward NNE
along the shore of the main island but they are less perfectly circular.
