It wasn't. Walking in to a room with a flickering light, oh no the light
went out, look, demons are trying to kill me. That was startling the
first few times, but it got dull after that.
F.E.A.R., otoh, I quit playing half way through. I couldn't bring myself
to finish that game in the dark.

When I went to the page, the ad at the bottom of the page said, "Is your
love cheating on you?"
And my first thought was, "Well, if that's the case maybe you should
play fewer video games."

Really? I'll have to avoid it... I never got far enough in Doom3 to get
over the jumpiness factor :o

It had it scares, but it was not a survival horror.
IMO by the end of the game the "scares" became too repetitive and
unoriginal, to the point that in about the last quarter of the game
they failed to scare at all because they were too expected and too
similar to previous situations.
