The Object Collection at http://lib.povray.org has been growing slowly but
consistently for about 8 months now. Downloads seem to be roughly doubling
each month.

Recent Stuff
------------
SharkD has been hard at work improving the macros to apply uniform grid
lines to things and consolidating them into a single contribution called
ShapeGrid. He's also produced a set of macros for applying HSL, HSV and RGB
colour transitions to various shapes in a contribution called ColorSolid.
His LegoRoad submission provides a range of pieces of plastic roadway. His
new SolarSystem macros generate an entire random solar system.

Blue Herring has submitted a nice little pair of Calipers that you might
want to see lying on your desk and the MultiObjectPattern macros to create
elaborate surface patterns for the decoration of objects like vases and
plinths etc. His PointArrays macros let you manipulate sets of 3D points
while they're held in an array and then create impressive prisms, lathes,
and sphere_sweeps from those points.

Didactylos has contributed a plastic ball-point pen that is typical of the
type you'd find populating any office.

Bill has submitted his MeshRelief macro that 'scans' simple POV-Ray
primitives and generates a mesh that incorporates surface distortions. It
creates good chipped and weathered building materials and it sounds like
some people have started using it for far more than that.

Updated Objects
------------------

TdG has submitted version 1.10 of his CobblesStreetMacro. This adds a
cobbled road or path surface to a scene so that the cobbles are laid
following the contours of a height field.

Additional symbols have been added with version 2.0 of the RoadSigns macro
which now contains over 100 symbols and some new panel shapes and designs.

Site updates
------------
A thumbnails page has been added at
http://lib.povray.org/searchcollection/index2.php. This:
o Provides a compact way of showing all objects on a single screen
o Provides access for anyone who doesn't have JavaScript enabled
o Enables external search engines like Google to index the objects on the
site

A new page to list download statistics has been added at
http://lib.povray.org/searchcollection/downloadsummary.php?rollup=1&sort=Total .
This enables you to see how popular your work is and has revealed that the
number of downloads has been roughly doubling each month.

With the holiday season approaching (at least in the Northern hemisphere)
it's the perfect time to relax in the sun working out how to finish all
those wonderful objects you've been working on for some time.

Regards,
Chris B.
