Hi

Firstly thank you for the replies to my posting about simulating a camera with
no lens (i tried to reply but the message didn't seem to appear on the thread)

I now have a scene which uses an orthographic camera to look at a diffuse slab
representing a focal plane array (FPA) of a camera with no lens. In front of the
FPA I have placed a large disc. The slab 'sees' part of this disc through an
aperture placed at the end of a cyclinder which is placed so the base is centred
around the slab.

What I'm trying to do is simulate lambertian emission from the disc (and
eventually the cylinder placed around the FPA) so that the amount of flux
falling on the FPA can be calculated. I'm hoping to get to a stage where the
image of the slab that the orthographic camera gives will provide an intensity
map (in terms of W/m2) over the FPA.

Is it possible to use povray to do this? I played around with setting the
ambient value of the disc to a number representing its radiance (W/m2/Sr) but I
dont know if this is ok when using radiosity (lots of advice states ambient
should always be 0 if using radiosity).

Thank you for any advice

Stu

have a look at emission:

Thanks Jim,

I'll give it a try.
