Note that fade_distance is a crucial setting for realistic light
sources: This value should be in order of magnitude of the light
source's radius (e.g. in a scene with a scale of 1 m per POV-Ray unit,
0.025 would be a good value to simulate frosted light bulbs). As this
will also affect apparent light brightness, you'll have to adjust the
light source's brightness accordingly.
For realistic results, and presuming that you use assumed_gamma 1.0,
fade_power of light sources should always be 2.0. (If you prefer
assumed_gamma 2.2 for artistic reasons, a fade_power of 2.0/2.2 ~= 0.91
will probably look more convincing.)
