Hi All,

We're running POV-Ray off the back of DIALux. They've modified some of the
lighting engine to take IES files and so forth, as I understand it.

We're having trouble with interrupted renders (being based in Mexico, we
lose power on a weekly, sometimes daily, basis). The continue option
doesn't show up on the menu. How do we get POV-ray to run an output file
and how do we then continue interrupted renders?

By the way, we love POV-Ray for what it can do. We're looking forward to
POV-ray 3.7 or 4.0 - any idea when they'll arrive?

Thanks,

Thomas.

Try using the +C command-line argument. In the windows version of povray
you can write command-line arguments in the textfield at the top of the
window (at the right of the resolution selection dropdown-menu).

In the version we're running, this box is greyed out and locked - ideas?

Is this a global fix, or is instance by instance? Can we activate it once
the POVray file is running, or do we have to do it first?

Thanks,

T.

Normaly, it's grayed out only when a render is under way, and usable at any
other time. It don't depend if you have a scene loaded or not.
Stop any rendering.
If there is no rendering running, there is something wrong with your
installation. Try exiting POV-Ray and reinstall with a freshly downloaded
installer (yours may have been corrupted during the original download)

First OF all you have to know Dialux install two copies of pov-ray, the
original one in directory C:/program files/Pov-ray.../ and the customized
one in C:/program files/Dialux

If you want to run a project created with Dialux you have to copy
pvengine.exe from Dialux directory and replace the same file in
C:/.../pov-ray.../bin

After that you will open every .POV files with customized version, also
re-run a render scene with your settings in the command-line.

You can also create videos, if a black-out stop calculation you have only to
restart from the interrupted frame.
