Hey,
im making a scene of a room, and i want a fish tank in it. i've made a
glass box with a light ontop, however the box is too transparent.. can
anyone give me a good example or any hints on how to make the object
semi-transparent so you can actually make out the shape of the box :)

thanks
Damo!

You can see even the cleanest and brightest glass because it reflects
and refracts light.
Making the glass refract makes its shape obvious by the way in which
it distorts the background. Making it reflecting makes its surface shapes
quite evident. And it's quite photorealistic as well, naturally.
If the glass object has round shapes, then specular highlights are a must.

(Naturally if it's reflecting, there should be something in the
surroundings for it to reflect; a glass object in an empty black space
can't reflect anything.)

Don't make it entirely transparent...a real fish tank has stuff on the
glass. Only use the texture for the stuff on the glass surface though,
use interior attenuation or absorbing media to color it. Make the tank
out of separate slabs of glass with a water box inside, not one box, and
give everything realistic ior, reflection, and highlight values.
