I'm sure there's a way to make pov render a depth image of a scene (i.e. where
each pixel is coloured according to how far away it is, not according to
lighting and textures), but I've just looked through the pov docs and I can't
find any options to do it!
Is it possible? Or will I have to fake it using fog?
Cheers.

It's not directly possible in the official POV-Ray. You'll have to either
simulate it (with textures or fog) or use a patched version (AFAIK there's
no such patch for 3.5 yet available, but MegaPOV 0.7, which is based on
POV-Ray 3.1 supports this).

Doh! I must have remembered it from megapov! I'm using textures for now, but
I'll use megapov if I want to do it on a complex scene :)
Thanks for your help.
