could someone give me the specifications for a TGA-image that povray
will accept as a heightfield? I have the TGA description by Paul
Bourke,
but somehow I cannot find which subtype I have to use...

It's just a 24-bit uncompressed rgb-colour TGA with the red and green component
used to represent a 16-bit integer. The blue component is not used.
