Hi,
I've been using POV-Ray for a few years for odd jobs, and like the bozo
I am, stuck my hand up to develop a realistic head. I've gotten to the
point where I can do a rough version of the sort of girl we avoid at
parties. Surely there are countless others out there who actually have
some artistic ability and have conquered some of this territory. Any
suggestions on where to find this sort of information?
Thanks
Jim

About the only method that I know of that has gained some acceptance
as "The" method to model heads for POV-Ray is by using the program sPatch.
There are a couple of tutorials on it's use in my links collection and a
URL for the program itself.
The other methods entail purchasing programs such as Poser which is
also gaining popularity here in the groups and the really expensive
alternatives such as Rhino and 3D Max which offer the most powerful
modelling capabilities but restrict you to triangle meshes.
If realism is not entirely mandatory you can model faces with Blobs
and there is a good blob man include file you can take a look at in
the include files section of my links page but it takes quite a bit
of work to make blob faces that even approachs reality.
Aside from those methods I described above there is no substitute for
talent and hard work and nothing will challenge ones abilities more
than trying to model human faces.

Hi,
there is a nice witch that won the IRTC round July-August 1997. Look at
http://www.irtc.org/stills/1997-08-31.html the file is called witch.jpg, the
description is witch.txt. Unfortunately there is no source file given but in
the description you find the email address of the author. He claimes, that
everything is hand coded with blobs although this is hard to believe.
Hope that helpes
