I KNOW! I want to design (if possible - many are unsupported like cubic and
stuff) at 3dsmax because it is easier, I can get a pirate copy, and
translate it into Pov-ray and RENDER it on Pov-ray

if you want just a modler you should try Rhino
it has a lot of professional modeling cababilites they use in manufactoring and
even somethings 3dsmax doesn't have. also it's about $200 for the student
version (that's me)
rhino can't do anything other then basic rendering, like some really basic
textures and stuff but it's designed as a modler not modler+render like 3dsmax

and who said something bout downloading 3dsmax or lightwave?
I checked both 3ds's page and lightwaves and I never saw a downloadable version

of course if your talking pirating, well um yea go ahead and do that I guess if
you want

anyway, web page for rhino is
http://www.rhino3d.com

and rhino has direct export to pov-ray files, also BMRT, dxf, obj, just about
every format there is

actully I'm considering buying rhino to use with pov, cept I think rhino might
be a tad more complicated then what I need, hehe!!

Why here?

PS: I tried out several modellers but still feel the POV-editor is the best way
for me to tweak, twist and turn a scene.

Which has what to do with 3DS Max and/or POV-Ray again? If
you dislike Billgatus of Borg so strongly, why are you even
running an OS that's capable of running 3DS Max?
