I just downloaded 3.5 for the second time and continue to have a problem
getting it to render anything. The render queue starts and the little
moving striped bar gives me the impression its doing something, but nothing
happens and I eventually have to quit the program to get it to stop.

I've tried rendering both tutorial files and some of the samples.

I also noticed that I have no render preview window like the documentation
refers to.

I'm running a G4 800mhz with a gig of ram, OS9.2.2 and carbon lib 1.6

Any thoughts?

Thanks,
R

Same problem here (233 MHz beige G3, 192MB Ram, OS8.6, CarbonLib D-1.5, with
and without Kaleidoscope)
and at a number of other places.
Seems like build 0173 is broken somewhere.
Does anybody have a build 0170 that I could download somewhere?
I have picked up the source tree, but I don't think I'd be able to create MPW
makefiles from scratch for the whole kaboodle. And I don't do serious software
development on my mac, so I did not invest into CW...
I'd go back to 3.1g only very reluctantly.

Cheers,
Hans-Martin

Even worse here !
( 350 Mhz G4, 128MB Ram, OS9.0.4, CarbonLib D-1.5 )
I can't even try to render something. When Starting POV, it gets to
"initializing library" , beeps a few times, then HANGS !

I do still have a 0170 installed - which has memory leaks all over
the place - at least, it says so itself ! BUT I don't have any webspace
to put it for you to download - sorry.
And I really WON'T mail you 6.4 MB ;-)

Cheerio

... and now I found Thorsten's advice for Aaron ( August 2002 ) to update
the system, since 9.0.4 is three years old ...

Well, I WON'T, since you're having problems with 9.2.2 :(

Sad, really.

Any advice ??
Thorsten ????

Greetings

Well my 8.6 is even older, but it works pretty well for me for everything
else -
never touch a running system :-)
Since 3d rendering is not my top priority pastime, I'll just wait and see
what will happen...

If you are desperate... I could email it to you from work. The .sit file
is 6.8 MB. Here in the US, it is Friday evening so you would have to
wait until Mon.

try talking with other users in this group who have the same problem... if
you do not mind the old interface i suggest staying with Mega pov with the
Mac interface... It is what i use and works just fine but is not compatible
with source code from other users on these groups if you do allot of
sharing... So far i have not heard of any fix for 3,5 on 9.2.2... Try asking
Chris Huff he is a good programer and if he has time might help... Otherwise
i would go back to 3.1.g... =]

Good luck... =]

Actually, I would suggest using 3.5 if at all possible instead of
MegaPOV, and definitely not 3.1g. I'm afraid I can't help much with
running it under 9.2.2, I work under OS X now. I couldn't help much with
fixing the Mac version either...it is a CodeWarrior project, and I can't
easily afford an up-to-date version of CodeWarrior, even with the
academic discount.

Oh well i tried... !! I can not afford it ether and i really am more comfortable
in classic unless i take my iBook to school... The system just feels more
finished to me... I am waiting until at least X.5 before i start getting settled
with it... =] Last time i checked the partial renders were not working under os
10.1 in 3.5... ?? I will dl another copy and check... =]

Thank you any how... at least you are willing to try if you had all the
resources... =]
Once again my savior i just do not have the know how rt now... =]
