Boys and girls,

UberPOV beta 3 is now available for MacOSX v 10.6.8 and later.
GUI and command line version.
The GUI version will not use the same prefs file as Unofficial POV-Ray
for Mac to avoid conflicts.

Both GUI and Command Line version are first releases, not fully tested.
UberPOV itself is in beta stage so if you use it, you should know what
you are doing or ask info and assistance in this newsgroup
(unofficial.patches).

There are no specific option settings implemented in the preference
panel. If you want to use new options, use an ini file.
Add all the new options, or options you want to overwrite, in that file
and select it in the "files & paths" panel of the prefences panel.
All options set in this file will overwrite all other settings from the
preferences panel.
You can leave the file open and change the settings. Everytime you hit
the render button, the file will be saved.

For example add:
Sampling_Method=3
Antialias_Confidence=n.n
in an ini file and select that one to use the new sampling method 3.

Reed the 'changes.txt' file included in the archives for more info or go
to the UberPOV site, listed on the website.

Ah, you need a link? ;-)

So, mister 'Uber' thinks he is better than 'Mega' ;-)

Nice work 'clipka', good to see that there is a new test bed for new
stuff.

Who is going to implement the mechsim patch from MegaPOV....

Enjoy it and report bugs if you like to see them fixed!

Yvo

Thanks, but it's still a loooong way to achieve what MegaPOV did for 3.6.

... or integrate the BulletPhysics library, for that matter?

Not me, as my personal interests lie elsewhere; but UberPOV doesn't have
to remain a one-man show.

 From some reactions in these ng's I had understood that mechsim had
some serious structural problems so it might need an overhaul as well...

I am sure there will come a day when people will take up the gauntlet.
In the meantime it is good to have this testbed alongside version 3.7.
Thanks indeed for the initiative.

Thomas
