I've looked high and low and every where I possible can.
But there's no 2048*1024 256 color Earth height field map.
I found one that was close but it used only 208 colors of the map & it didn't
have anything under sea level.
I have several texture maps of earth. Some pretty good.
I have very good texture & height field maps of Mars. That I've used to explore
that planet. I've made lots of landscapes and area views.
To really explore I set it up so that by using the height field I could clip
the landscape showing where a water level could be and I could clip off the high
parts of the land showing how craters are laid out.
I liked the POV version so much I made a Windows version.
And now I would like an Earth version.
So any help will be appreciated!

So, I have two in my directory for the POV-Planet.
One is 21600 x 10800, and is 5.89 MB.
The other is 4320 x 2160, and is 1.98 MB.
I can post the small one here if you'd like, or email you the large one.

Sorry, not what I wanted. I need to see the under the oceans.
But I'll add it to my collection!
So.. I took the image that had 204 colors and with POV made my own.
Using a image_map function and a large array I was able to push the colors to
the top of the palette. Then with an image_map from another Image to fill the
bottom of the palette. And saved it all with just using POV!
It could be better, it could be worst. but here it is.
