I have pre-compiled v3.7 shipped with Ubuntu official repository. I would like
to install v3.8 in a local directory to test it along with v3.7.
I was unable to find instruction for compiling v3.8 in Linux.
The current releases at https://github.com/POV-Ray/povray/releases are
apparently for Windows (there is no make file) and upgrade an available
installation.

The instructions are kinda here and there and you have to play with GitHub and
the install instructions, etc.
See if this thread helps you any.

So silly of me, I should have looked for the Unix folder.
Thanks, it was straightforward!
