You can achieve this quite simply if you set the texture of your
object transparent (fully or partially, however appropriate) and then
set the interior's fade_power and fade_distance, the latter one
probably very low in comparison to the thickness of the object, if
you want to simulate usually-non-transparent materials (such as wood
or stained plastic). Glass or similar stuff should of course get a
quite high fade_distance with at least the order of magnitude of the
thickness of little objects, since it should only be non-transparent
when it is extremely thick.
