I am trying to make an old piece of paper, like parchment with some text
on it. My idea was an sPatch obj with the text as an image map , but the
image gets really scrambled when rendered no matter what
scaling,rotation, etc. What is the best way to do this?

If you mean by "the image gets really scrambled" that you can't read the
text, have you tried rendering at a higher resolution ? or with
antialiasing turned on ? and using the adaptive antialiasing ? or all three
?

Hi,
I did the same with a bezier surface (modelled in Moray) with a twist.
