I just received 3000+ messages in p.b.images, anybody know what is going on?
(Thunderbird 91.11.0 (32-bit) on windows 10)

Nothing unusual in my Thunderbird 91.11.0 (64-bit) on GNU/Linux.

And nothing unusual in my Thunderbird 91.11.0 (32-bits) on both Windows
10 and 11.

m@b problem is a missing or reset ".newsrc" file (or whatever Thunderbird is
using in place of ".newsrc"). Note: if m@b is new to the newsgroup, this is
in fact normal and is how usenet news works. He needs to "Catch Up Group" to
sync his newsreader's new message counter.

Maybe Thunderbird forgot that you have already red those in the last years.
It can just randomly happen.
Just select one near the end. Drag the scroll bar to the top.
Shift-click the oldest message. Right-click and chose «Mark as read»
It can take a few second to complete.
