Didier Bur has announced a new version of his POVray plugin for
SketchUp: http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?f=323&t=29589

If you're a SketchUp user, this is a wonderful plugin to add to your SU
toolset.

Cheers.

Q: What are the capabilities for animation with Sketchup w/ or w/o this plugin?

I mostly use the "clock" keyword from the SDL along with some custom
scripting to do my animations. SU will export animation frames via
another plugin, "proper animation v1.06", but I haven't yet really
worked with it together with the SU2POV plugin yet.

I generally use SU2POV to setup the objects pretty much the way I want
to visualize the scene, then do a few test renders. Then I hand edit and
tweak the "final" .pov file, add the clock modifiers, tweak the
textures, etc, then do the sequence.

I've been using POVray for over 10 years and I'm so familiar with the
SDL that it's second nature to use a text editor or the IDE and make the
changes I want...

One thing for sure however. Since I hand-tweak my final .pov files
before I start my animation, whatever tweaks I do by hand are NOT
communicated back to SU. That is, if I modify a texture by hand in the
.pov file using the POVray IDE, those tweaks will not be seen by SU.

I intend to write an tutorial on using the SU2POV plugin with SU for
both stills and animations. Probably this winter when I have some
downtime at home.

Cheers.
