New POV-Tree version has a lot of changes.
That's why I decided to make it available as
a beta version first.

You can get release notes, screenshots,
download page and another information here:

http://home.covad.net/~gobukhov/povtree.html

Please let me know if you will find out any
problem.

Gena.

You copy-pasted Xfrog screenshots didn't you ?? ;-)
It seems really improved.

Hi Gena,
This version feels really fine and is much easier to control than the
previous version.
I got two types of warnings from POV-Ray while rendering a tree:
1) BOTTOM_COLOR_x and TOP_COLOR_x are rgbft, while in TOMTREEm.inc they are
read as rgb
2) I get a long list of identical warnings from the test pov-file concerning
"bounded CSG union split". This might refer to the bounded_by's in
TOMTREEm.inc. I am not sure.

Excellent work!!!

Thomas

Please use TOMTREE-1.4.inc instead of TOMTREEm.inc
It supports rgbft colors and also UV mapping for leaves
which you can define in POV-Tree.

If you downloaded ZIP file you can find TOMTREE-1.4.inc
there. Or you can get it here as a separate file:

You are right. I think there is something wrong with
calculation of bounded_by parameter. Maybe it makes sense
to remove it at all if it won't affect performance too much.
I'll check that.

Thank you Thomas!
Hopefully it will be even better in the future :)
I have many ideas about new features.

Gena.

Aaah!!! Being lazy, I only downloaded the jar file. But even more stupid: I
had already TOMTREE-1.4.inc from the previous download!! I just overlooked
its presence in my folder... <bash! bash!> (head against tree trunk)

Indeed. Yes it might affect. However, I think rendering through the inc file
is good for testing, afterwards a mesh is easier to use in a scene. So,
maybe, it doesn't matter so much.

Well... I am looking forward to it!!!

I used an earlier version of pov-tree, just like to say thanks.:)
