I did manage to get something very similar to my halo fireball
with media, but it was *so* much slower, and no where near as
smooth.
I ended up re-installing POV 3.0 when I wanted to
re-render it recently.

  Just try MegaPov and media method 3.
  Or wait for pov3.5.
