Hi! I need to run POV-Ray on a 386SX. What's the earliest version of
POV that supports meshes and the bozo colour-map?

Thanks!

Meshes were introduced in POV-Ray v3.0. The DOS version probably requires
less overhead and might be the way to go. You get it from here -

ftp://povray.org/pub/povray/Old-Versions/Official-3.0/

BTW: You can also use POV-Ray v2.2 but you would have to use unions of
triangles instead of meshes. The results should be the same.

Um, why?
It is going to be so slow and limited that it would be faster to walk to
the nearest newer machine, install POV, and render on that. For $50 I
could get something better. Heck, I could get something better for free
if I looked hard enough.

I guess he is submariner, prisoner, astronaut, monk or traveller.

BTW: Shouldn't be possible to compile linux package for 386SX and then 3.5? At
least it is possible to compile 3.5 with DJGPP becouse it works with 386SX.

Perhaps so, but the machine is installed in a location where theft has
been a problem. Yes, even theft of a computer. They had something
better at one point, but it was stolen.

But the lack of a good computer at this location has not stopped anyone
from wanting to try to do 3d graphics. I've written a marvellous mesh
editor that runs nicely on the target machine. Now, I just need POV...
