Hello,

I would like to know what compression schemes POV-Ray accepts for TIFF
files as image_map{}. I have checked a few schemes but they usually show
with scrambled colors or are rotated (i have read about the rotation
problem here). I have search in the docs but could not find any details
on this. I can imagine that some of the compressions need a license to
apply and may not be supported by POV-Ray.

I know I could use any other format but this is for a utility I am
working on. I would like to know if TIFF files are just too problematic
and just tell the user that another image formats may be better (like
JPEG or PNG).

I am using POV-Ray 3.5b7 with Windows 98.

thanks for any info on this,

FlyerX

Since you are using beta version you can expect some wrong behaviours. IMO you
should check your images with other applications and if they appear ok in almost
all you should report it in povray.beta-test with small examples of wrong images
in povray.beta-test.binaries. You should specify what software you are using to
create your images.
