Andy,
It isn't just your 56k modem, its their server. I'm hooked up to a
T-1 line here at the office and I can't get it to download. I've tried
five times. It slows to less than 100 bytes per second and then
times out :-( Hope someone gives them a mirror site.

Harold

I'm sure that is probably the slashdot effect. I saw this on slashdaot
Sunday I think.

I waited until some odd morning hours and was able to access their
site. The publicity overwhelmed their server. Someone was kind enough to
offer a mirror for the following files:

full binaries for Windows 9x/NT/2000, around 44mb:
http://openfx.suso.org/openfx/1.0/openfx-1.0.zip
ftp://prune.flirble.org/pub/gfx/openfx/1.0/openfx-1.0.zip

small version without sample files:
http://openfx.suso.org/openfx/1.0/openfx-small-1.0.zip
ftp://prune.flirble.org/pub/gfx/openfx/1.0/openfx-small-1.0.zip

source:
http://openfx.suso.org/openfx/1.0/src/openfx-src-1.0.zip
ftp://prune.flirble.org/pub/gfx/openfx/1.0/src/openfx-src-1.0.zip

  Still times out...

I did eventually get it, from the UK site. Never could from the
US site. Odd sort of thing of the internet that sometimes it is
easier to get things from a computer a half a world away than it is
from one just a few miles away.

That's why network engineers draw it as a cloud - stuff goes in, floats
around for a while, and eventually comes out the other side in the right
place - it's amazing it works at all.
