Thanks for the feedback!

I'll wait a little longer before I make up my mind, but I think I'll just
skip the voting and let the POV-Team decide.

Sorry, but I'm not sure what you mean. Couldn't help what?

No one shall oppose me!
So I've changed my mind, submitting directly to the POV-Team is probably
best. Though with only two logos, taking votes should be pretty easy.

OK.

But that's not really the question...

But you can type it just fine, apparently...

Sorry. :-)
Darn, now I will have to think of something on-topic to say...well,
maybe this contest should be put to sleep for a while...say, until POV
4.0 is released. In other words, enough time for it to fade from most
people's memories enough for them to get excited over it again. There
will also be new people in the community, and you can design the new
contest keeping the mistakes of the first two in mind.

Exactly my thoughts, there's no hurry.

I don't think the amount of excitement is the reason for the low
response. It's just extremely difficult to do a good logo design. Probably
most of us did a sketch or two and then quit.
Just do a search for "logo design" on Google, you'll find lots of people
offering design. Then have a look at the portfolio's they offer, most of
what I've seen so far isn't of "overwhelming quality".

IIRC it's already more than a year since the beginning of the first
competition. I have for a long time said myself "there's no hurry", but if
we just keep saying like that we'll never get anywhere.

Almost half a year ago I set the deadline for the current contest and
everyone seemed to think it was plenty of time. Now where the deadline is
almost reached I would feel rather stupid just extending it again.

Also, I think the POV-Team will only choose a logo they can fully accept. I
don't think they will go on compromise with the logo just to get one. So if
they choose one, it's great. And if they don't, we can always make a new
contest later.

Please tell me what are the mistakes of the second (the current) contest?

I agree.

That's why I think it's no big deal that we haven't got so many submitted
logos, because the two we have are some really good ones (in my opinion, and
many others too it seems).

I could transfer all the logos from the old competition into the new one,
and then we'd suddenly have lots of logos. But that wouldn't make the
situation any better.

See my reply to Chris.

IMHO it's all got too complicated. I was thinking of having a go, but felt
that I was going to spend 5% of my effort producing a logo, and 95%
producing the different sizes, colours, following the rules, etc.

Might it not be better to simplify? Everyone who wants to compete submits
one logo - when we have a winner we can worry about rendering at diff.
sizes, colour depth, etc.
