Anyone want me to make a list of real life textures? I could make
a web page for it and anyone could use them then.

You mean you have them in stock or do you have links to such
resources? If it's the former, are they procedural or image maps? Aer
they your work or a collection of royalty-free work?
In any case I think it would be worth the effort. It's just that my
fingertips got itchy :)

What I was getting at was, could people send me POV textures as
include files? Then I will make a webpage for them, so we have a
centralized resource.

Perhaps you could suggest a few categories to start off? Its a big
world out there!
A related thought...I have mused over the idea of a sort of "atlas" of
POV cloud formations with the underlaying code included. I remember
writing away, (when I was really young ), to the Canadian Weather
Bureau, or whatever they called it then, for their official cloud
identification chart, a wall poster with a nice matrix of little
pictures of cloud formations, Cirrus, Cumulus, Stratus, etc. I think
POV does "Alto-Stratus", maybe "Alto-Cumulus" really well. But to fill
out the whole chart could pose quite a challenge. But somehow there is
a loose nexus between the modeller's desire to produce "collections",
the hunt to simulate the natural world in a raytrace, and the desire to
investigate nature through classification.

Well, since I haven't gotten any POV textures yet, I figured they
were few and far between. But here's some categories for
starters:
- Architecture (external of buildings, like stucco, cement, etc.)
- Insects (bug eyes, of course, wings)
- Mammals (fur)
- Fish (scales and stuff)
- Outside (asphalt pavement, cement roads, dirt, sand, etc.)

Isn't there already such a website?
The one I vaguely remember was not limited to "real" textures, of
course.

Not that I know of. I am looking for realistic textures in POV
format, not as a bitmap.

A category I've always had trouble finding good examples of:
Rock/Stone
