Notice the effect that Warps mesh compressor had on the file size of the
POV file... dropped it from 12.6M to 3.12M... a 75% decrease in size.

What about the POV mesh2 format ? It should be around 4-5 M I guess.

Is there a utility to convert to Mesh2 format?  I haven't really looked
into it yet...

There are several of them (at least 3DS2POV, objuvpov, pose2pov). You can

By the way, did you use the default compression or the extra compression?
Could you try both? I'm interested in the size difference between the two
in this case.

Default.
