I have 256 MB of RAM, but I'm getting messages that my resources are
critically low. This is after an animation using a complicated blob in
Megapov, then shutting mega down.
Is this likely due to pov, or something else on my system?

If you're using Windows 9x then it's probably because other processes are
hogging resources in the background (resources are NOT the same as RAM).
Check to see what's launching at startup (in the startup folder) and if you
know about Registry editing, go into Regedit and go to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run* and check
the keys listed in there for extra programs that are starting that don't
need to be. *I'm not responsible if you kill something you shouldn't ;)*
Best to export the keys first, or if you don't know about editing it, don't
do it!
Windows NT and Windows 2000 don't have fixed resource pools, so it shouldn't
happen in them.
