  Take the x-axis to the left, y-axis up and z-axis away. It's a right-handed

A professor in the math department at University of Minnesota said that he
believed the abscissa and ordinate where named during the development/use of
plane geometry and thus the 3rd dimensional axis may not have a formal name
as such.

    Well ordinate is the line, abscissa is the place where the line is cut,
Z is the extension of those into the third dimension, I suggest the Latin of
"extension" (prolatio or tractus?) or "Projection" (prominens?).
