Do the calculations for radiosity take into account media - global or object
level? For example, if I have a single spotlight and global scattering, will
the radiosity brighten objects outside of the spotlight's cone, like a nearby
wall?

I doubt the official version's radiosity does, it doesn't work well with
media anyway.(For one thing, it has problems with media containers.)
The version in MegaPOV does, though. It also has a lot of other bugs
fixed, and a couple design "features" have been redone(I think the scale
of the scene is automatically calculated now, for instance). It is a lot
easier to control now, and faster.
