But you cannot use layered textures with patterned textures...

Perhaps instead of creating a whole set of new keywords, it could made
more general. Something like:

  attribute_map
  { phong
    [0 Phong1]
    [.5 Phong2]
    [1 Phong3]
  }

Finish_map is easier to type and is closer to what it actaully is.
